Fighting off Frumping

I love Rita’s blog at Fighting off Frumpy.
Right now, I’m livin it
It dawned on me as I looked in the mirror last Saturday that I had let myself slide…alot.
I have lots of excuses (non of them valid) about being too busy, no money, who-care-I’m-a-Mom….but the bottom line is, there are plowed fields better looking than me right now.
I am not sure at what point things began to slide. Holes in my under-grunders were merely “breather holes” and bedroom slippers became everyday-leave-the-house-footwear.
Even my purse was lookin sad. I’ve had the same purse for three years. I love that purse. I can cram entire changes of clothes, lunches, bottle of water in the dang thing. Truth be told to scored out of the free box at Goodwill. Needless to say it was in the free box for a reason.
BUT like kids and toys sometimes you need to put stuff away, and the new/forgotten stuff become brand new again. Digging deep in my closet I happened upon an awesome purse I forgot I even had. It’s as big as a car but hey, it’s stylish. I matched that with brand new clamshell pocket book and I felt like a pretty Hot Mama.
Then shoes. Shoes are the bane of my exsistence. My 9.5 wides have been mistaken for snowshoes a time or two and it’s not a ton of fun to find shoes that fit my clodhoppers. But I splurged and bought some cute, stylish white Aerobic style shoes. Not the cheap, canvas, as must arch-support-as-a-plank Wally World wonders.
There were a few more subtle changes. I splurged on a new bra, some cheapie-but-cute earrings and retired my “breather hole” underwear. Who knew a snazzy new thumb ring could make be feel so….hot.
Lighten my hair? Cool.
What? How much does it cost? Sh*t.
The bottle of Peroxide sounded like a good deal at the time. But my hair is now one pubic hair shade lighter…and drier than a popcorn fart. Note to self: Step aaawwwaaayyy from the DYI hair lightening endevors
Overall I feel fresher, a tad younger, and a whole lot more confident.

It’s My SITS Day! WAhooo!!!!!!!!!!!

Howdy all! Welcome to the Kingdom of Goofiness…umm…Tiredness…ahh..Total Unpreparedness!! Honestly, I had a mixture and delight and horror when I got Heather from SITS’s email. Happy as heck my day is finally here, panicking like when surprise company pops by (is the house a mess? Are there under-grunders on the floor? Did the boys leave the seat up??).

    Too funny! I know what you mean about under-grunders on the floor! I would need to also do a quick check for dog/cat throw-up (I know too gross!), chocolate milk spills, dirty diapers from my hubby changing my little boy anywhere, and no place to sit because of cracker crumbs on the couch! I love Rita's blog at Fighting off Frumpy.




Right now, I'm livin it




It dawned on me as I looked in the mirror last Saturday that I had let myself slide...alot.




I have lots of excuses (non of them valid) about being too busy, no money, who-care-I'm-a-Mom....but the bottom line is, there are plowed fields better looking than me right now.




I am not sure at what point things began to slide. Holes in my under-grunders were merely "breather holes" and bedroom slippers became everyday-leave-the-house-footwear.




Even my purse was lookin sad. I've had the same purse for three years. I love that purse. I can cram entire changes of clothes, lunches, bottle of water in the dang thing. Truth be told to scored out of the free box at Goodwill. Needless to say it was in the free box for a reason.




BUT like kids and toys sometimes you need to put stuff away, and the new/forgotten stuff become brand new again. Digging deep in my closet I happened upon an awesome purse I forgot I even had. It's as big as a car but hey, it's stylish. I matched that with brand new clamshell pocket book and I felt like a pretty Hot Mama.




Then shoes. Shoes are the bane of my exsistence. My 9.5 wides have been mistaken for snowshoes a time or two and it's not a ton of fun to find shoes that fit my clodhoppers. But I splurged and bought some cute, stylish white Aerobic style shoes. Not the cheap, canvas, as must arch-support-as-a-plank Wally World wonders.




There were a few more subtle changes. I splurged on a new bra, some cheapie-but-cute earrings and retired my "breather hole" underwear. Who knew a snazzy new thumb ring could make be feel so....hot.


Lighten my hair? Cool.


What? How much does it cost? Sh*t.


The bottle of Peroxide sounded like a good deal at the time. But my hair is now one pubic hair shade lighter...and drier than a popcorn fart. Note to self: Step aaawwwaaayyy from the DYI hair lightening endevors




Overall I feel fresher, a tad younger, and a whole lot more confident.
