The Wisdom of Michele

Michele, this post is like a breath of fresh air and I teared up with relief when I read it. My hubby and I fought hard and long to become parents (infertility for 7 years lead to adoption and IVF which resulted in two gorgeous rugrats).BUT also because of that, I sometimes feel like I don’t dare complain. I remember years ago (after we adopted Jake at birth) and I commented out my colicy baby and lack of sleep. A coworker gave me an icy stare and said “my aren’t we ungrateful”. No, no,no, no, NO! I am NOT. But i feared that’s what “people” would think and went a long time thinking I was alone in my parenting frustrations. But the truth is , I love my children dearly, but if i had to stay home with them full time….they’d drive me stark ravin MAD!There..I said it.Thanks Michele!

The Wisdom of Kel

Gosh I like Kel.
I don’t know if it’s her crazy sense of humor, super model good looks or just her stories that pretty much always make me fall of my chair (I’ve had to pillow myself to her stuff), but this chick rocks. You can find her at housewifesavant and if you don’t believe me on her ability of make you nearly pee yourself with laughter, read her post this-is-so-funny-its-not-even-funny. After I go change my grunders, I’ll be back to read more (the comments are priceless too!)

But on occasion,I’ll read something of hers that is so filled with wisedness, that it makes me go wwooooowww. Seriously.

One such moment came in the form of a comment in response to my I Choose Bliss post. I read this and it made me even more determined to make mornings a sunnier time for my rugrats.

“This touches on an area of pride for me. Can I BE prideful? Yes I can. When I wake my daycare kids I never have to rush them.Since the 3YO has been a daycare kid all his life he’s yet to outgrow the panicked look that he wakes with; “I’m UP! I’m UP!” which is especially painful to see since his chemo took away all his hair. When this happens I remind him that we’re not “hurry-upping” and that we just need to “get the sleep off of his parts.”We shake or rub his limbs, his torso, his head. It’s “his job” to rub his eyes. I’m a hard a** in a lot of child-rearing areas, but RARELY is anything so important that you’ve got to stress a sleepy child. “

I hear ya Kel. And you are SO right. We’ve made this sweet little activity part of our morning routine now. Things are much calmer now in the morning in The Kingdom Of Tired.

Especially The Mommy.

Ditto what Tammy said. She’s usually right.
HS is awesome. So wise. I don’t know her IRL but she makes me feel like I really could ask her for help and get an honest, sincere reply. I love her. :)
And her comments are flippin’ hilarious!

An addition to our routine just today; the sleeping pal “Elephant” needs waking too. It’s my job to rub his BUTT. Thanks Daycare Kid.

    Thanks for the lovely compliments!
