Mommy Dude

Tonight, my six-year old and I were playing basketball. I make a nice shot (nothin but net, thankyouverymuch) and Jake hollers, “Good shot Dude!”

Dude?

I inform him, I may be many things, but “dude” isn’t one of them.

Stumped, he stares at me, “Ummm…so what do I call you then?”

Here’s a wild idea, how about “Mommy”?

He grins, “Naaa, I mean, what other than Mommy?”

I ponder.

“How about Queen Mommy?”

“No way!”, he shouts, laughing.

“ok..how about Your Royal Highness?”

“Mmmoommmm”, he groans with an eye roll

I concede. “You’re right, honey“, I respond warmly. “How silly of me”……………

….and that’s why from now on, I will be know as The Supreme Commander.

    LOL! I actually like “dude”. I think it means you’re part of his posse, which is good, right?

    Suvi has taken to calling us all “wise guys” since her grandfather (the Three Stooges fan) has been visiting this week. I think I’d rather be called dude! :)

    Nice work on the hoops, too.

    Dude!

    I fear I’m a big offender. I overuse the dude. I call everyone dude. I might’ve called you dude, if you hadn’t corrected me. The Supreme Commander is more evocative. But dude! It’s a mouthful, dude!

    My vote is for The Queen. Plain and simple. No room for doubt about who’s in charge. It’s perfect, Dude!

    Oh my gosh, the Supreme Commander rules!!! I love it. I think I’ll start asking my boys to call me that. My husband wanted to know what I was laughing at, so I told him, he thinks that’s pretty awesome too. I’m gonna have to get to the kids before him, or they’ll be calling HIM that. :)
